It's coming soon fine people... My composition ABSENTIS for full orchestra will finally be played this coming Dec. 16th by our orchestra "Orchestre Philharmonia Mundi de Montréal". I'm used to compose for strings and got some of my work played but this is a premiere for me. Self-taught in composition, I really worked hard on this one!
ABSENTIS meaning "absent", "gone", "missing"... gives voice to those that war has taken from us. The work is loud and violent overall but has also calm moments like in the excerpt you'll hear from our rehearsal.

Comment by Kevin Keating on December 9, 2012 at 3:51pm Wow, that's a pretty intense piece. The sudden shock of the tympani drums are like the guns of Navarone. Really reminds the listener how abruptly life can be taken away on a large scale. I love it. I've been composing pieces of my own (self taught and still learning). String quartets, trios, duets, even a couple pieces for piano. I'm hoping to find a local ensemble that might play some of them. Maybe a high school quartet or something.
Thanks Kevin! I just added a couple of clips (with sound). One from a rehearsal and another one from the Coda. I'm really happy the piece is coming together during the rehearsal... Still a bit stressful though since I'm a self-taught composer but I have a feeling I did a good homework :--)
