Hi Theresa.
I have been doing an extensive amount of looping since the mid-1990's. I have used the Jamman units, Oberheim Echoplex pro, Boomerang, and just recently purchased a Boss RC 50. I am convinced that the RC 50 is the only choice for looping…
Hi all. I have played Zetas and NS Design instruments extensively in the past. I play NS Designs exclusively now. There are two different models of NS Designs: The CR Series, which have active tone controls and are in the $2000.00 price range, and t…
Life is good in Hershey although I'm happy that we don't live there. I have close to 150 kids in fourth and fifth grade and these numbers seem to be holding. My kids play well and we have all rehearsals scheduled on the school day so no complaints there.
Rich is still in Hershey as well and is almost done with his doctorate . . . coursework is done and so is the research. It's just a matter of spending time analyzing the data and writing the paper. He didn't do much on that this summer and is starting to feel a bit guilty about it but I think that he needed the time off. The coursework was grueling for about two years straight.
I hope your family is doing well! Have a good start to the school year!
Hi Scott. Sorry it's taken me so long to respond. Hope you're having a great summer. I've just returned from teaching at Django Camp, Strings Without Boundaries, Villanova, and TODA/TCDA. best wishes, Julie
Great to hear from you! I plan on checking out your websites very soon.
Well, I thought I'd be "comfortably" retired a few years ago, but as
you've probably gathered, things never quite worked out that way...
Upon retiring in Spring, 2001, I went right back through the PGCPS
revolving door & taught full-time for another 3 years...remember the retire-rehires? At that point there was a dire need for experienced certified people
to TRY to fill the many personnel gaps, so I joined their legions. After that,
I became a long-term sub at 2 elementary schools, for what I thought
was going to be at most a half year, sitting in for Dr. Linda Morehouse.
She was fighting to beat lung cancer for a few years, but tragically
she lost the fight, but went out swinging! God rest her. As it
went, the schools asked me to stay on for the rest of the year, and I accepted. Then I took a full year off from public school teaching
and thought seriously about just enjoying my family, gigging, teaching a few
private students and try to fix up our "older" place in West Laurel
when I got the chance! But, wouldn't you know it, Kathy Rodeffer
called me the following summer and asked me to teach at two
Title I elementary schools 2 days a week, so I've ALSO been doing that for the last 3 years and I'm somewhat unsure/undecided about how much longer I will...One of the schools is coincidentally a school I attended as a kid:
Langley Park-McCormick Elementary in Adelphi, where I "started my career"
on the violin in grade 5.
Well, Scott, that was probably much more than you might have even cared to know, but there it is! I'm playing with a local bluegrass group or two up
here nowadays and am also doing a variety of music, mostly light classical
and occasionally folk or swing as a mostly solo act through an
online booking agent. Please check out my page with them
when you get a chance, at:
I just joined, & thanks for looking me up. Are you still teaching down in NC?
I see that you're playing a Steinberger (I think) on the bandstand in that pic.
Please send me any comments about it. Hope all is well with your
family, too. Please catch me up when you get a chance.
