I find that Spirocore puts too much tension on the instrument, but even so they are used even by some soloists.

Strings could publish some instrument posters with photos and technical drawings, as the Strad Posters. There are many instruments in the USA that could be featured.

Yes, try another A (Jargar or Larsen), I think you will like it. Violinists don't use the Dominant E also.

Ann, I like Dominants with a Larsen or Jargar A too, but many professionals don't like them because they say they say Dominant's life is too short.

Hi! I oil varnish my instruments in about 7 days and 7 days later they can go to the concert room. To me a varnish that never dries properly is a bad varnish. I use a very thin coat of solid vaselin under the bridge feet so that it will not stick to…
Bellissima! That is a really good looking instrument!
With oil varnish (or presumably with spirit as well) how do you know when it is dry enough to set up (i.e. so the bridge will not stick or the instument will not mar easily?
I agree with Ulf, the viola sound must not be unfocused, dark is one thing, unfocused and hollow sound is another (bad) thing.

NYC VIOLA TRIP - I
I`m just back from my annual NYC viola trip. I`m very tired... It was too busy... but I found time to see the James Ensor exhibition (at MOMA) and the kandinsky Exhibition (at the Gugenheim).
I met Sue Gingold, of the NYC Opera, she knew Sacconi and was a friend of the Wurlitzer's for many years. She studied with Brunno Giuranna in Accademia Chigiana in Siena.
