Check out this pop-up video parody for Strings Charts, everything from Radiohead and Coldplay for string quartet to Appalachian folk tunes and favorite hymns for string orchestra. http://bit.ly/LPWaRP

We hope everyone who is attending the ASTA Conference in Atlanta March 22-24, 2012 will stop by the Mona Lisa Sound booth (1300 and 1401) in the Imperial Ballroom of the Exhibitor's Hall.  We look forward to seeing you.  We are right across from the Strings Magazine booth.

Mona Lisa Sound meets Metallica!  We've added a chart-topping Metallica tune, "Nothing Else Matters", to our rock string sheet music repertoire (www.MonaLisaSound.com. A staple of Metallica's live concerts, "Nothing Else Matters" is available as string quartet, string quartet with double bass, medium and large ensemble, and cello quartet.   We hope to see you at the ASTA Conference in Atlanta - Mona Lisa's booth (1300) is right across from our friends at Strings!

Not sure if you've had a chance to view this video on ASCAP featuring Eric Gorfain and the Section Quartet talking about arranging for rock strings:

John Reed's (Hampton Rock String Quartet, Mona Lisa Sound) arrangement of "I'd Love To Change the World" by Ten Years After is to be featured at a concert by World Civic Orchestra with Antonia Pontarelli at Alice Tully Hall on Sept. 25, 2011. John's in good company - other works to be performed are by Copland, Bruch and Shostakovich. Check out the fourth paragraph in this press release. Cool!

Thanks for being so understanding. You know, we have always been stuck a little between a rock and a hard place regarding selling our arrangements. On the one hand we want to share our lifelong work and make sure it doesn't end up in some attic in a hundred years, and on the other hand we shoot ourselves in the foot a little as we no longer have the only act that does this music.

But I'd rather have the latter I guess. I'm always glad to hear of other quartets success with my music, but I also get a little sad that work is so lean these days.

Good idea Greg about showing the bride & groom the HSQ website to select options. Thanks HSQ for all you do for string playing. I'm sorry that my question seemed unreasonable. John we would never exceed 30% of HSQ content because our bookings so far are expecting conventional garden-party stuff (Boccherini, Haydn, 'Eine Kliene'). We add tango & celtic, and now to pep things up we have started to add your arrangements. Yes we will credit HSQ at every opportunity - not just because it is the agreement, but because HSQ are important ambassadors for string playing, broadening peoples perceptions of what strings can do, so important for the next generation of audiences and string players. Thank you for all you do !!!!!
