What's the name of your fiddle? How did you come about that choice?

HAHAHA! No, Greg, I haven't, but I know a lot of folks down your way often do. Believe me, I've considered naming it after my ex-wife when it's particularly bull-headed and troublesome. However, I've taken a deep breath, counted to 10, and thought better of it!

Been thinking about this for a day or so. If I were to name my "axe", it would probably be either :"Cesare" or "Caligari", owing to the fact that it's a German factory fiddle circa 1920.

I didn't actually name my violin, but one of my students did. She named it Violet because it has a soft sweet sound. So now Violet and I make beautiful music together!

Mine is simply, Mr. Viola. My wife calls her viola, Gertie.

Guess anyone can see why my violin was named Mr. Haunt. It has a deep voice also.

I HAVE TWO VIOLNS, "CANTINO" AND "IO". CANTINO IS THE FIRST STRING "E" IN LATIN. IO COMES FROM EARLY RELIGIOUS LATIN NAME FOR JOHN, IOANNES.

Interesting! I never thought of naming my violin. Mind you, I call it "names" from time to time but that is not polite to share ;)

Hahaha, I thought I was the only one who did that. My viola makes me so mad sometimes, but I couldn't live without.

I have four violas, going back to when I first started playing in 5th grade. I have not named them until the one I play now. A friend from school asked what I named my viola, so I thought I would. I named my viola , Tessera. It means four in Greek, since it is my fourth viola.
